About

About Aerosmith

Aerosmith

AEROSMITH. American hardrock group first formed in 1970 , sometimes referred to as "The Bad Boys From Boston" and known as "Americas Greatest Rock And Roll Band". They were signed to Columbia Records in 1972 and released a string of multi-platinum albums including "Get Your Wings" 1974 / "Toys In The Attic" 1975 and "Rocks" 1976. By the end of the decade they were among the most popular hard rock bands in the world and had developed a loyal following of fans, often referred to as the "Blue Army". However drug , alcohol addiction and internal conflict took their toll on the band which resulted in several member splits and poor sales in the early 1980s.  It was not until the band sobered up and released 1987's "Permanent Vacation" that they regained the level of popularity they had experienced in the 1970s. Throughout the late 1980s and 1990s, the band scored several hits and won numerous awards for music from the multi-platinum albums Pump (1989), Get A Grip (1993), and Nine Lives (1997). Their comeback has been described as one of the most remarkable and spectacular in rock 'n' roll history. After 41 years of performing, the band continues to tour and record music. They are the best-selling American rock band of all time, having sold more than 150 million albums worldwide including 66.5 million albums in the United States alone. They also hold the record for the most gold and multi-platinum albums by an American group.

Description:

An original 1989 Pump LP sleeve, very clearly signed on the front in silver & gold paint pens by all five group members ; Steve Tyler (Joanne) / Joe Perry / Brad Whitford / Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer (twice).

Certification:

The seller recalled she got the LP autographed in Sydney at a signing event. Our research shows that Aerosmith played The Sydney Entertainment Centre (during The Pump Tour) on October 10/11th 1990, so one of these is likely to be the actual signing date. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.

Size:

12in LP Sleeve (Record not Included)

Condition:

The album sleeve is in poor condition, but not torn, reflecting in the price. Many kinks and creases probably caused by its journey in a suitcase back from Australia to the UK 20 years ago. The signatures however are superb, big bold and clear.

There is a copy of a typed letter included written by his son Jon (to whom many of them are dedicated) further detailing the history. The collectors notation on this item is for Munich 15.11.1993. Aerosmith were at this time on the Get a Grip Tour which lasted over eighteen months, from early June 1993 to mid-December 1994. The tour was put on in support of the band's third consecutive multi-platinum album Get a Grip released in April 1993. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.

Description:

Three consecutive large 1997 autograph book pages clearly signed in ballpoints (Steve Tyler in black marker) by all five legendary members of the group ; Steve Tyler / Joe Perry / Brad Whitford / Tom Hamilton and Joey Kramer.

Certification:

One of a huge collection of over 1000 autographs in around a dozen large books all obtained in person (between 1990-1999 mostly in the Manchester area) by husband and wife Tony & Kath (many autographs are personally dedicated / dated to them with messages of thanks from the artists). The majority of signatures are of the major pop-groups of the period (including many Brit-Pop) signed at the various Manchester music venues (The Apollo / Nymex Arena / The Academy / G-Mex Centre and The University Union) and also at festivals (the T-Festival Strathclyde 1995-97). From the notes / dedications within the books and the difficult accessibility into such premium venues & concerts, we believe the couple must have worked in positions that gave / allowed them back-stage access during the period. Aerosmith played the Manchester Nymex on May 10th 1997 during the Nine Lives Tour. The position / number of this page within the books and our research leads us to conclude that this is likely to be the actual signing date for this autograph. IAA.
