AL BOWLLY d1941. Outstanding British Jazz singer widely regarded to have been the inventor of crooning and of being probably the first actual pop star. A prolific artist, he made over 1000 recordings during his 15 year career. He was killed in the London Blitz aged 42 in April 1941.
