ALMA COGAN d1966. English pop singer of the 1950-early 1960s and consistently the most successful female singer of this period scoring 18 singles charts hits, including the 1955 UK No1 "Dreamboat". Nicknamed "The Girl With the Laugh / Giggle / Chuckle In Her Voice". She was the highest paid British female entertainer of her era. She died of cancer aged just 34 in 1966
