Ava Gardner

AVA GARDNER d1990. Leading American actress of the 1940s and 50s , widely considered to have been one of Hollywoods most beautiful ever women. She was signed to a contract by MGM Studios in 1941 and appeared in small roles until she drew attention with her performance in The Killers (1946). She was nominated for the Academy Award for Best Actress for her work in Mogambo 1953. She later appeared in many high-profile films including Bhowani Junction 1956 / On The Beach 1959 / The Night Of The Iquana 1964 / Earthquake 1974 and The Cassandra Crossing 1976. She was married three times to Mickey Rooney / Artie Shaw and Frank Sinatra (1951-57). She continued to act on a regular basis until four years before her death of pneumonia aged 67 in 1990. She is listed 25th on The AFI list of greatest ever female stars.
