The autographs were obtained by Pete who was a member of Horizon who were the support band on the Rollers 1974 UK Autumn Tour. There is a wonderful original handwritten letter from him to his friend & Bay City Rollers fan (Janis) included ; " Here they are at last. I'm afraid I haven't had any time to send them while on the tour but we're finished now. Its great to be able to relax for a while. Tony (the drummer) and I have left Horizon now, we joined just for the tour. It's been good fun but not my sort of music really. It was a shame I couldn't get you backstage to meet the Rollers but nobody was allowed at all. I couldn't even get my wife backstage (if I was married that is). Anyway I hope you receive the autographs intact. Lots of love Pete xxx". There is also an autograph book page included signed by all members of Horizon (see images). About

About Bay City Rollers Autographs

Bay City Rollers Autographs

BAY CITY ROLLERS. Scottish tartan-clad teeny-bop group who created "Rollermania" hysteria in rising to worldwide fame with a string of hits during the 1970s. Their first single "Keep on Dancing" (1971) reached No9 in the charts and was produced by Jonathon King. It was however two years later in 1973, before the classic line-up of the group ; (Les / Alan / Derek / Woody and Eric) were to repeat success with hits ; Remember and Shangalang. 1975 was to become "their year" with the classic "Bye Bye Baby" No1 for six weeks in the spring (selling over 1 million copies) and "Give A Little Love" becoming No1 in the summer. They also scored a rare US No1 hit for a British group in 1976  with "Saturday Night". Between 1973-1978 the Bay City Rollers sold over 100 million records (including having eleven UK Top 10 singles). The strain of success started to take its toll on various group members by 1976 (original founding member Alan Longmuir left the group) being replaced by 17 year old Ian Mitchell. The group slowly and controversially imploded, finally splitting in 1978 when both Les and Eric left (supposedly to pursue solo careers). During the following decades, there has sadly remained continued acrimony between the group members over rights issues and various court cases concerning unpaid royalties (thought to be worth in excess of 30 million pounds). The original members as of 2007 finally agreed to try to resolve these and fight together in an attempt to recover "the lost Rollers millions" ............

From a fantastic collection of visitors books dated between the mid 1960s to the mid 1980s, containing literally hundreds of celebrity signatures. The visitors books were collected by the staff and employees of Barclays Bank at Heathrow Airport during this period ; we assume this branch must have been located in or close to the VIP lounge. The autographs are almost all dated, many include the addresses of the signers and collectors notations / stamps by the original (bank employee) obtainers. There are also references to the bank and quality of service by some of the signers. By the very nature of the books the signatures really authenticate themselves and provide a fascinating insight and mix of famous British and American names of the period. High profile signers include ; Muhammad Ali / Robert De Niro / Jack Nicholson / Sid Vicious / Marlon Brando / Mick Jagger / Keith Moon / Sylvester Stallone / Roy Orbison / Thin Lizzy / Graham Hill etc etc. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK

One of a huge collection of celebrity autographs cut from pages of the visitors book of the Preston Guildhall collected during the 1970-80s. ## This Bay City Rollers concert took place on the evening of May 15th 1975 at the very height of "Rollermania". Despite repeated warnings regarding the behaviour of thousands of hysterical teenage girls, the venue was somewhat under-prepared for the events which were to follow. Preston police said they were not expecting trouble and the Guild Hall had arranged for 48 stewards to be on duty that night to deal with the crowds and barriers. Eight medical officers were also arranged to be at the concert to help with any cases of hysteria or fainting ... .The Guild Hall operations manager said : “There will be no heavy-handed stuff, all we ask is that the youngsters stay in their seats, this is for their own safety ....” As the group stepped on stage in their half-mast tartan trousers, the crowd were already on their feet and going crazy. To get a better view, the fans took to standing on chairs and despite the stewards efforts to re-seat them, they were uncontrollable. Photographs show the extent of the impact that the show had on many young teenage girls in the crowd ; some were pictured with tears streaming down their faces, whilst others had expressions of utter shock. The crowd pushed to get close to the stage, in scenes that resembled those from the “Beatlemania era”. Several members of the crowd fainted within touching distance of the band whilst they were performing some of their most iconic songs including "ByeByeBaby". However, they were all quickly removed from close to and off the stage itself ; whilst some were ‘ejected’ from the concert and others taken away to hospital for treatment . A night of chaos that led to the group being banned from ever appearing again at this venue. The Rubettes autographs (May 1975 by all five) and Denis Law / Frank Carson are on the reverse of these two pages. We are unsure as to why Falconer has been spelt in this way. Either Eric was amusing himself joking with the spelling OR after researching more likely he signed with just his first name only and another group member (most likely Alan Longmuir comparing / looking at the handwriting formation ) has possibly added Falconer at the same time.......
