BEACH BOYS. American group first formed in 1961 known for their close harmony style and string of classic hits reflecting the 1960s Californian youth culture of cars / girls and surfing. The biggest selling American group of all time with 56 Hot 100 hits (including 4 No1s). The brilliant Pet Sounds LP of 1966 is often voted the best album of all time and highlights the song-writing genius of Brian Wilson. He has battled with a fragile persona and well publicised drink & drug addictions throughout his life. Dennis Wilson died from drowning aged just 39 in Los Angeles in 1983. Carl Wilson died of cancer aged 51 in 1998.
