BEN E KING d2015. American soul singer and record producer. He is best known as the singer and co-composer of "Stand by Me" a worldwide hit in both 1961 and 1986/87. It is No25 on the RIAA's list of Songs of The Century. He was also a principal lead singer of the R&B vocal group The Drifters, singing the lead vocals on one of their biggest global hit singles "Save The Last Dance For Me". He died of heart disease aged 76 in April 2015.
