About

About Bill Wyman

Bill Wyman

BILL WYMAN. English musician best known as the bass guitarist for the legenday rock & roll band The Rolling Stones between 1962-1993. Since 1997, he has recorded and toured with his own band, "Bill Wymans Rhythm Kings". He has also worked extensively producing records and film and has scored music for both film and television. Wyman has famously kept a journal since he was a child ; it has been useful to him as an author during his writing of seven books which have sold over two million copies. His love of art has additionally led to his proficiency in photography and some of his photographs have been displayed in galleries around the world. A lack of funds in his early years led him to create and build his own fretless bass guitar. Today his hobbies include being an amateur archaeologist ; he enjoys relic hunting and he has designed and now markets a patented Bill Wyman signature metal-detector. As a businessman, he owns several establishments including the famous Sticky Fingers Café, a rock & roll-themed bistro serving American cuisine first opened in 1989 in Kensington London.

"Dear Susan. Many thanks for the very nice card and letter I received from you. Sorry if I kept you waiting so long for the reply, but I have only just found a spare moment-please forgive me! I could see the card must have taken you some time to make and I really do appreciate the fact that you are willing to spend so much of your time to make something for me. I just can't thank for your kindness. Anyway, I'm glad you were able to get to see us on our last tour of England, and don't forget to keep your eyes open for us next time. Thanks again. Look after yourself and keep smiling. Bill Wyman x".

INCLUDES the original mailing envelope also hand-written by Bill Wyman and postmarked London 18th March 1966.

Certification:

From a wonderful music autograph collection obtained by Susan B in and around the Leeds area during 1965-1967 (mostly at The Queens Hall Leeds). Many are dedicated to her with annotated places and dates. The collection included five 1966 handwritten letters to her by group members of the Rolling Stones. On the original mailing envelope (included), it is postmarked London 18th March 1966. The Rolling Stones were in the UK much of January and early February 1966 before going on their 2nd Australasian tour. It is likely therefore that this letter was written during those months and posted later. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.

Dear Lynne. Many thanks for your nice letter-please find enclosed the autographs you requested. Yes I am married, but my wifes name is Dianne not Ann. Certification:

With reference to the letter content and date ; Wyman married his first wife Dianne in 1959 and their son Stephen was born in March 1962. The couple separated in 1967 and divorced in 1969. In July 1964 the group were mostly touring and recording in the UK. On the day the letter was written (21st July) The Stones were in London at Regent Sound Studios mixing Heart of Stone. Its All Over Now was recorded in June 1964 and became the groups first No1 single in July 1964. The EP mentioned in the letter would be Five By Five, their 2nd EP which was released in August 1964 and also reached No1. We have to assume this letter was written, then lost or forgotten about ; it even crossed the Atlantic to the USA, as it was not posted until November 1964 with a New York postmark on the envelope. The Stones were at this time on their second US Tour between 24th October-15th November 1964. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.
