Bing Crosby

BING CROSBY d1977. American popular singer and actor who became one of the best- known entertainers of the 20th century. He made an incredible 1700 recordings, scoring an amazing 41 No1 hits and selling over 700 million records including the classic "White Christmas" one of the biggest selling records of all time. He died of a heart attack aged 74 in 1977 on a golf-course in Spain.

Description:

An original typed letter (dated December 28th 1949), signed at the conclusion in ink by Bing Crosby.

Certification:

The letter mentions his 1949 film "Top of The Morning". One of a wonderful collection of over 50 celebrity letters all obtained during the late 1940s to early 1950s by a Mr Douglas Squires. He was involved in editing a School / University Film & Theatre Entertainment magazine during this period and wrote to celebrities looking for a contribution of autographs and signed photographs for the magazine. Many of the letters are gracious and detailed replies with many references to helping his project and mentions of their careers at that point in time. Certification:

From the vintage 1930s autograph book of Bill Oxman of Blackpool, containing many notables of the period. He was a specialist map printer by trade whose work took him all over the UK during this period, allowing him access to celebrities and build his fine collection.
