Bobby Boris Pickett

BOBBY BORIS PICKETT d2007. American singer, songwriter, actor and comedian best known for co-writing and performing the 1962 novelty hit song "Monster Mash". The song featured Pickett's impersonations of veteran horror stars Boris Karloff and Bela Lugosi. Every major record label declined the song, but after hearing it Gary S Paxton agreed to produce and engineer it. Issued on Garpax records, the single became a million seller, reaching No1 on the Billboard Chart for two weeks before Halloween 1962, styled as being by "Bobby 'Boris' Pickett & the Crypt-Kicker 5". The track re-entered the US charts twice (August 1970 and again May 1973) when it reached No10. In the UK, it took until October 1973 for the tune to become popular, peaking at No3 in the Singles Chart and for the second time, the record sold over one million copies. Pickett died of Leukemia in Los Angeles aged 69 on April 25th 2007
