About

About Bread TV Series

Bread TV Series

BREAD. British BBC TV comedy series written by Carla Lane d2016. It ran for seven series (74 episodes) between May 1986 and November 1991. It focused around the devoutly Catholic Boswell family of Liverpool. The family was led by its matriarch Nellie (Jean Boht) through a number of ups and downs as they try to make their way through life in Margaret Thatcher's Britain with no visible means of support, largely through benefit fraud and the sale of stolen goods. In a 2004 poll to find Britain's Best Sitcom it came 39th.
