BRUCE McLAREN d1970. Legendary New Zealand race car designer driver engineer and inventor. His name lives on in Team McLaren which is one of the most successful in F1 history (winning 19 World Championships) and also dominating CanAm sports car racing in the late 1960s (with Bruce at the wheel) of many of the teams 56 wins. His F1 career between 1959 and 1970 consisted of 104 races / 4 Wins and 27 podiums. He won Le Mans in 1966. Bruce Mclaren died aged 32 at Goodwood Circuit UK whilst testing his CanAm car on June 2nd 1970 ; the cause of the accident being loss of aerodynamic downforce when his rear bodywork came adrift at high speed.
