Cat Stevens

CAT STEVENS. English musician singer-songwriter educator and prominent Islam convert. He has sold over 60 million albums since the 1960s including classic Triple Platinum LPs ; "Tea for The Tillerman" and "Teaser the Firecat". He was seriously ill in 1968 (with tuberculosis) having to take a year out, causing him to become interested in alternative faith. At the height of his fame in 1977, he left his musical career to devote himself to the Muslim cause, changing his name to Yusuf Islam. In 2006 he released his first new work for 28 years "An Other Cup"
