THE SHADOWS. British instrumental group, early pioneers of the four member pop group sound format and known for the unique distinctive Fender guitar sound of Hank Marvin. Over six decades from their 1950s formation they are the most successful British group in chart history (scoring 69 hit singles) including the 1960s classic No1s ; Apache / Kontiki / Wonderful Land / Dance On / Foot Tapper. Their evergreen lead singer Cliff Richard went onto enjoy decades of solo success. Along with Elvis Presley he is the only artist to have scored hits over six decades. He has sold over 250 million records, had over 120 records reach the Top 20 and has scored 14 UK No1s (the most of any artist). He began with his debut 1958 hit "Move It" and other best known songs include ; Living Doll / The Young Ones / Summer Holiday / We Don't Talk Anymore and Mistletoe and Wine.
