About Colin Chapman
COLIN CHAPMAN d1982. Innovative influential British sports car designer / inventor and founder of Lotus Cars in 1952. Team Lotus won seven F1 Constructors Titles / six Drivers Championships and the Indianapolis 500 under his guidance between 1962-1978. He died of a heart attack aged 54 in 1982.

From the vintage 1950s motorsports autograph book containing many notable drivers of the period of L Park of Cheshire. The family recalled that this would have been when he was a young man going to Aintree Race Circuit and attending the British Empire Trophy Races during the late 1950's (probably 1958-9).
