Count Basie
COUNT BASIE d1984. American jazz pianist, organist bandleader and composer. He led his jazz orchestra almost continuously for nearly 50 years. Many notable musicians came to prominence under his direction including vocalist Joe Williams. Basie's best known theme songs include "One O'clock Jump" and "April In Paris". He died of cancer aged 79 in 1984
