Del Shannon

DEL SHANNON d1990. Underestimated singer-songwiter & guitarist with wide ranging voice who enjoyed considerable success in the early 1960s with many hits (including the worldwide No1 "Runaway") in the spring of 1961. He recovered from alcoholism in the late 1970s in order to resurrect his career. Sadly when suffering from depression (for which he was taking Prozac) ; Del Shannon committed suicide aged 55 on February 8th 1990, killing himself with a .22-caliber rifle at his home in California.

A) A unique original 1963 fans question and answer sheet (listing names / dates of birth / height / weight / hair-colour / favourite food / artist / clothes etc etc). The fan has listed the questions (in the middle down the page). Then both Del Shannon & Johnny Tillotson have written down the answers (relative to themselves) in ink on either side and then individually signed the page at the conclusion.

B) Two original May 1963 polaroid photographs probably showing the tour-bus, both signed on the front in red ballpoint by Del Shannon (Del)

C) Two original December 1962-63 polaroid photographs (showing him with fan Susan), both clearly signed on the reverse in ballpoint by Johnny Tillotson. He is an American singer-songwriter best known for his early 1960s Top10 hits ; "Poetry in Motion" and "It Keeps Right On Hurting".

A wonderful collection of items for a fan or serious 1960s music collector.
