A rare original vintage 1966 index card, clearly signed in ink by Dominque Pire WITH original secretarial letter on their headed paper and mailing envelope


From the wonderful Michael Pinchbeck collection. This amazing collection consisted of over 2000+ music / entertainment / sport / politics & pioneers autographs on index cards / books / letters & photographs. All obtained in-person and through the post by him for 50+ years between the 1950s-1990s. The majority are dedicated to him and date stamped. As part of his archiving, there are numerous letters that help support the history and provenance of his lifetime dedication to the hobby of autograph collecting. This letter date is November 1966. Dominique Pire

DOMINIQUE PIRE OP d1969. Belgian Dominican friar whose work helping refugees in post-World War II Europe saw him receive the Nobel Peace Prize in 1958. During WW2, he served as Chaplain to the Belgian resistance, actively participating in its activities, including helping smuggle Allied pilots out of the country. He received several medals for this service after the war. He delivered his Nobel lecture entitled "Brotherly Love : Foundation of Peace" in December 1958. He died in Belgium aged 58 on January 30th 1969
