A rare early original 1981 Smash Hits Magazine centre-fold newsprint photograph, signed in ballpoints by all five members of the classic lineup of the group ; Simon Le Bon / Nick Rhodes / Andy Taylor /  John Taylor and Roger Taylor.

Certification:

One of an absolutely outstanding mostly in-person autograph collection of over 500 items obtained by JD in Brighton & London during the late 1970's to 1990s. The majority being pop music acts of the period, along with actors and entertainers. The autographs are on records / fanzine magazine photographs and autograph book pages. Many are dedicated along with messages to the collector (Jonathan) and include dates & venues where they were obtained. There is a copy of a letter from him included (if required) that details his almost obsessive collecting exploits and memories of the time. DURAN DURAN. English pop group first formed in Birmingham in 1978 featuring three Taylor surnames, none of whom are related. One of the most successful bands of the 1980s and a leading band in the MTV driven "Second British Invasion" of the United States. Since the 1980s, they have placed 14 singles in the Top 10 including ; Girls on Film / Hungry Like The Wolf / Save a Prayer / Rio / Is There Something I Should Know / The Reflex / Wild Boys / View To A kill and Ordinary World (selling more than 100 million records). Whilst they were originally considered part of the New Romantic scene (along with bands like Spandau Ballet when they first emerged) they later shed this image. The band worked with fashion designers to build a sharp and elegant image that earned them the nickname "the prettiest boys in rock". Duran Duran were among the first bands to have their videos shot by professional directors (with 35 mm film movie cameras) which gave their videos a polished look. They were also (in 1984) early innovators with video technology in their live stadium shows. The group have had several lineup changes over the years, but are still touring and recording to the current day ...

Four early original 1981 autograph book pages, clearly signed & dedicated (To Jonathan) in ballpoints by all five members of the classic lineup of the group ; Simon Le Bon / Nick Rhodes / Andy Taylor /  John Taylor and Roger Taylor. 

NB. Simon Le Bon is on the reverse of the John Taylor autograph so we have included an additional circa 1980s page signed in ballpoints by both Simon Le Bon and Nick Rhodes (see image 2). So these can be used to make up a display showing all five group members.

Certification:

This album was signed at the Odeon Birmingham on 11th July 1981 during Duran Duran's "Faster Than Light Tour". There is a letter included detailing the history from the original obtainer included. This their debut album (released on 15th June 1981) went onto reach No3 in the UK charts. Their third single "Girls on Film" taken from this LP was released on 13th July 1981 and reached No5 in the UK charts. Certification:

One of a small collection of 1970-80s signed LP sleeves from a private seller. Further detailed history on this occasion is unknown. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.

Condition:

Condition of the sleeve we would rate as 9/10. Record and outer sleeve not included but these could easily be found at a later date.

A rare original 1981 Tour Programme, clearly signed and dedicated (To Cess) in ballpoints / markers across the central pages by all five members of the classic lineup of the group ; Simon Le Bon / Nick Rhodes / Andy Taylor /  John Taylor and Roger Taylor.

The front cover is also signed by the support group on the night, Animal Magnet who released a synthpop single in 1981 called Welcome To The Monkey House. Paul (Animal) Caplin and Richard Magnet.

 

 

Certification:

The programme is for the groups first headlining UK tour which took place in February-March 1981 in support of their debut LP "Duran Duran". Their first hit single "Planet Earth" reached No12 in the UK charts in this month. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.
