EDDIE BYRNE d1981. Irish actor best known for playing General Willard in Star Wars (1977). Horror film fans may also remember him as the sceptical Inspector Mulrooney in The Mummy (1959) / Inspector O'Neill in Jack the Ripper (1959) and as the kindly Dr. Reginald Landers in Island of Terror (1966). He died in Ireland aged 70 on August 21st 1981
