EWAN MAcCOLL d1989. British folk singer, songwriter, folk song collector, labour activist and actor. Father of singer Kirsty MacColl. He is known for instigating the 1960s folk revival as well as writing such songs as "The First Time I Ever Saw Your Face" and "Dirty Old Town". He collected hundreds of traditional folk songs and released dozens of albums with Peggy Seeger
