FRANK SINATRA d1998. "Ol Blue Eyes". Legendary American popular singer and academy award winning actor. He began his long and stylish musical career during the swing era but his popularity declined during the 1950s until he won an academy award for best supporting actor in 1954 for "From here to Eternity". After founding his own label Reprise records he toured internationally throughout his life enjoying many career renaissances and selling over 500 million records. His personal life always controversial with his links to crime ; friendships with amongst others John F Kennedy and the wild nights as a member of the notorious Hollywood Rat Pack. Winner of 11 Grammys including a lifetime achievement award and one of the highest selling singers of all time. He died of a heart attack on May 14th 1998 aged 82. "Frank Sinatra's voice is pop music history.
