English pilot who was the winner of the first Thanet Air Race at Manston airfield on July 18th 1931. The race had six entrants and involved three laps of 24 miles each around the Isle of Thanet. It was won by Captain G A Pennington in a DH.80A Puss Moth (G-ABLX EM996)  (averaging 128 mph) due to the handicap on the race
