FM HORATIO HERBERT KITCHENER (1st Earl Kitchener) d1916. British Army officer and colonial administrator. He came to prominence for his imperial campaigns, his involvement in the Second Boer War and his central role in the early part of the First World War. He was killed in action west of Orkney Scotland aged 65 on June 5th 1916 on HMS Hampshire
