INDIRA GANDHI d1984. Indian politician and a central figure of the Indian National Congress. She was the third prime minister of India and was also the first and to date the only female PM of India. She was the daughter of Jawaharlal Nehru, the first prime minister of India. She served as PM from January 1966 to March 1977 and then again from January 1980, until her assassination in New Delhi aged 66 on October 31st 1984. This made her the second longest-serving Indian prime minister after her father
