Isley Brothers
THE ISLEY BROTHERS. American musical group originally from Ohio that began as a vocal trio consisting of the brothers ; O'Kelly Isley Jr d1986 / Rudolph Isley d2023 and Ronald Isley in the 1950s. With a career spanning over seven decades, the group has enjoyed one of the longest most influential and most diverse careers in the pantheon of popular music. After moving to New York City in the late 1950s, they rose to prominence in 1959 with their fourth single "Shout" written by the three brothers (which became their first single to chart on the Billboard Hot 100) and sold over a million copies. In the 1960s, they recorded songs for a variety of labels (including the Top 20 single "Twist and Shout") and the Motown single "This Old Heart of Mine" before recording and releasing the Grammy Award-winning hit "It's Your Thing" on their own label T-Neck Records. O'Kelly died suddenly of a heart attack in New Jersey aged just 48 on March 31st 1986. Rudolph died at his home aged 84 on October 11th 2023
