J K Rowling

J K ROWLING. British novelist best known as the author of the Harry Potter fantasy series. The Potter books have gained worldwide attention, won multiple awards and have already become the best selling book series in history (selling over 500 million copies to date). Her seven books became the basis for the phenominally successful series of eight Harry Potter films (released between 2001-2011) starring Daniel Radcliffe. She had overall approval on the scripts as well as maintaining creative control by serving as a producer on the final instalment. Joanne Rowling famously conceived the idea for Harry Potter on a train trip between Manchester and London in 1990. Hers is a classic "rag to riches" life story in which she progressed from living on social security to multi-millionaire status within just five years. As of March 2011 Forbes estimated her personal net worth to be in the region of 1 Billion dollars. The worldwide Harry Potter brand is currently estimated to have a value in excess of 15 billion dollars.
