JAMES BROWN d2006. American singer-songwriter. The originator of Funk Music nicknamed "The Godfather of Soul" and "Mr Dynamite". He was brought up in extreme poverty in South Carolina, his singing career began as a member of The Blue Flames in 1955. His career took-off in the mid 1960s with signature hits including ; "Papas Got a Brand New Bag" and the classic "I Got You I Feel Good". He overcame many brushes with the law and married three times during his life. He suffered with diabetes and prostrate cancer over the years, but despite his health, he was known as "The Hardest Working Man In Show-business". He died of heart failure aged 73 on Christmas Day 2006. His estate remains the subject of various family lawsuits
