About Jayne Mansfield

Jayne Mansfield

JAYNE MANSFIELD d1967. American actress and one of the leading blonde sex symbols of the 1950s. She first came to prominence as Playboy Playmate of The Month (February 1955), before appearing in several relatively successful Hollywood Films, winning a Golden Globe in 1957 for "The Wayward Bus". Whilst she remained a hugely popular star, her career in films declined during the 1960s, mainly due to the change in the glamour requirements of the industry. Her personal appearances became well documented publicity stunts and often involved her exposing of her ample 40D bust ! Jayne Mansfield was killed in a freak car accident (aged just 34) on June 29th 1967 in Louisiana USA .

Description:

A rare & desirable original 1967 photocard, clearly signed in ink "Love and Kisses Jayne Mansfield"

Certification:

We understand the photograph to be an original print taken from a negative. It is one of two we know of signed (see also Code 9723). The photograph was taken by Patrick Allen who was hired to professionally photograph Jayne Mansfield at the Webbington Country Club Axbridge in April 1967. She signed the photograph at a meeting with Mr Allen who then passed it on to his daughter years later. She kept it until 2017. There is a letter from her included confirming the history. The Webbington Country Club was a sizeable & well known entertainment venue that attracted many of the top cabaret stars during the 1960-70s. Jayne Mansfield appeared there in April 1967, just two months before her death aged just 34 in a freak car accident in Louisiana USA. She apparently received £3000 for doing her show which included anecdotes, singing and playing the violin. She had reportedly split from her longterm promoter Don Arden after refusing to appear at the venue in a see-through dress. She therefore attended with her new promoter Alan Wells and was interviewed by TV reporter David Mudd. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA
