Jo Siffert

JO SIFFERT d1971. Swiss F1 driver between 1962-1971 with Lotus / Brabham / Rob Walker / March and BRM. 100 races with six podiums and two wins (British GP 1968 and Austrian GP 1971). He was tragically killed at Brands Hatch aged 35 on October 24th 1971 in a non-championship race due to suspension failure. The sad nature of his accident resulted in and accelerated a rapid overhaul of all fire safety at UK race circuits

ON THE REVERSE OF THIS PAGE ; PIERS COURAGE d1970. British F1 driver and heir to the Courage Brewing dynasty active between 1967-1970 with Lotus / BRM / Brabham and De Tomaso. 29 races with 2 podiums. As protege and friend of  mentor Frank Williams, his competitive performances in a privateer Brabham in the 1969 season were impressive against the factory teams, with second places at Monaco & the US GPs and also a notable drive at the Italian GP. Widely regarded as "the last of the gentlemen racers", he was sadly killed aged just 28 at Zandvoort during the Dutch GP on 21st June 1970

From the late 1960s autograph book of John M collected at Brands Hatch and containing many motorsport notables of the period. A family member worked for the company that provided the circuit's on-site telecommunications at the British F1 GP which gave him access to all areas.
