John Le Mesurier

JOHN LE MESURIER d1983. BAFTA Award-winning English actor most famous for playing Sergeant Wilson in the classic BBC TV comedy series Dads Army. He was married to carry-on comedy actress Hattie Jacques between 1949-1965. His health visibly declined from July 1983 when he was hospitalised for a short time after suffering a haemorrhage. When the condition recurred later in the year he was taken to Ramsgate Hospital, after saying to his wife ; "It's all been rather lovely", he slipped into a coma and died on 15th November 1983 aged 71.
