John Peel

JOHN PEEL OBE d2004. English disc jockey, radio presenter and journalist. The longest-serving of the original BBC Radio 1 DJs, broadcasting regularly from 1967 until his death in 2004. He died suddenly of a heart attack aged 65 in 2004. He is very fondly remembered for championing the cause of new music artists, for his eclectic taste in music and his honest and warm broadcasting style.
