Joseph Cotten

JOSEPH COTTEN d1994. American film, stage, radio and television actor who first achieved prominence on Broadway starring in the original stage productions of The Philadelphia Story and Sabrina Fair. He then gained worldwide fame playing Jed Leland in the Orson Welles film classic "Citizen Kane" (1941). Later films included ; The Magnificent Ambersons (1942) and Journey Into Fear (1943) for which he was credited with the screenplay. He went on to become one of the leading Hollywood actors of the 1940s, appearing in ; Shadow of Doubt (1943) / Love Letters (1945) / Duel In The Sun (1946) / Portrait of Jennie (1948) / The Third Man (1949) and Niagra (1953). He died of pneumonia aged 88 in Los Angeles on February 6th 1994.

A good original vintage 1949 autograph book page, clearly signed in ink by Joseph Cotten (For Pauline with all good wishes 1949).



From the wonderful vintage autograph book (containing many notable actors of the 1940-50s) of P Sears whose father worked at Shepperton Film Studios during this period.
