KEITH MOON d1978. English musician best known for being the drummer of English rock group The Who. He gained acclaim for his exuberant & innovative drumming style along with much notoriety for his eccentric and often self-destructive behaviour which earned him the nickname "Moon the Loon". He joined the group in 1964, playing on all albums and singles from their debut "Zoot Suit" through to "Who Are You" (released in 1978 just three weeks before his death). His legacy as a member of The Who, as a solo artist and as an eccentric personality continues to garner awards and praise, including ; a Rolling Stone readers pick placing him 2nd in the magazine's 2011 list of "the best drummers of all time" nearly 35 years after his death. He died on September 7th 1978 aged just 32 of a sedative overdose, prescribed to him to alleviate alcohol withdrawal symptoms in the same flat (owned by Harry Nilsson) where Mamas and Papas singer Cass Elliott had also died four years earlier........
