This guitar was presented to Mr AB at the end of the Kiss Alive 1996-97 Worldwide Tour at Finsbury Park London in July 1997. AB was a well known Roadie & HGV Driver on European Tours for many of the major rock-bands of the late 1980-1990s. His pop-memorabilia collection also included many signed drumskins from these tours which can still be viewed in various sections on our website. The dedication "To Jon" refers to his son, to whom he got many of his items dedicated and who also as a young teenager joined him on several tours during his school holidays. A copy of a typed letter from Jon further detailing the history of the collection can be included. We believe this guitar would have been one of those earmarked for promotional-use by the band OR as part of Kiss' notorious Live Stage Show (which included Paul Stanley smashing-up similar copies of his signature guitar) during concerts. We understand the necks on those guitars were pre-cut in order to make them easier to break off, however this one has not been cut. There is also an original Kiss Alive Worldwide 96-97 guitar plectrum included (as shown). The Kiss Alive Worldwide 1996-97 Tour was the first to include original group members Peter Criss & Ace Frehley (since their 1979 Dynasty Tour). It ran from June 15th 1996 to July 5th 1997 and consisted of 12 legs with 193 shows (8 cancelled). At the time it grossed $148 million USD, making it the most successful Kiss Tour to date. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.

Size:

Ibanez Full Size Electric Guitar. We believe the model is a PSM10 as it has two volume controls and a triple switch. But if anybody can confirm or knows better please do contact me.

Condition:

Very Good. View Images. The signatures are all very strong with the exception of Peter Criss (which is one shade lighter than the other three) but still very clearly readable as per images shown. There are two minor nicks at the rear / top of the body and minor scratches on the reverse of the body. Pick-ups and bridge in good condition. The neck is straight and looks unused. It does not look like the guitar has ever been played. Overall we would rate condition of the guitar as an 8.5/10. The images shown have been taken with an Iphone hence the odd glare-back on the images. The dedication "to Jon" could be removed, but we will leave this decision to the buyer.

About

About Kiss

Kiss

KISS. American hard-rock band formed in New York City in January 1973 by Paul Stanley and Gene Simmons. They are known for their group members outrageous face paint and stage outfits. The group rose to prominence in the mid-to-late 1970s with their live performances—featuring fire-breathing, blood-spitting, smoking guitars, shooting rockets, levitating drum kits and pyrotechnics. The band has gone through multiple lineup changes over the years with Stanley and Simmons the only remaining original members. Counting the 1978 solo albums, Kiss have been awarded 30 gold albums to date (the most of any American band). They have sold more than 40 million albums in the United States with worldwide sales exceeding 100 million records, making them one of the best selling groups of all time. With their make-up and costumes, they took on the personae of comic-book style characters : The Starchild (Stanley) / The Demon (Simmons) / The Spaceman or Space Ace (Frehley) and The Catman (Criss). Stanley became the "Starchild" because of his tendency to be referred to as a "starry-eyed lover" and "hopeless romantic." The "Demon" make-up reflected Simmons' cynicism and dark sense of humor, as well as his affection for comic books. Frehley's "Spaceman" make-up was a reflection of his fondness for science fiction and his supposedly being from another planet. Criss' "Catman" make-up was in accordance with the belief that he had nine lives, because of his rough childhood in Brooklyn. Due to creative differences, both Criss and Frehley left the band in 1982. Buoyed by a wave of Kiss nostalgia during the 1990s, the band announced a reunion of the original lineup in 1996. The resulting Kiss Alive World Tour was the top-grossing act of 1996 and 1997. On April 10th 2014, Kiss were inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame.
