Leslie Phillips

LESLIE PHILLIPS CBE d2022. English actor who came to prominence in films in the 1950s, acting as a suave charmer with an exaggerated upper class accent and catch-phrase "Ding Dong" in the style of Terry Thomas. He enjoyed notable success in the period Carry On and Doctor series of films. In later years he moved away from comedy into character roles in the Harry Potter series and in many TV sitcoms. He died in London aged 98 on November 7th 2022
