Louis Armstrong

LOUIS ARMSTRONG d1971. American Jazz trumpeter and singer nicknamed "Satchmo" whose extraordinary career originating from the 1930s made him one of the most famous and recognisable musicians of the 20th Century.  A charismatic innovative performer whose inspired improvisation completely changed the face of Jazz music in popular culture. He died of a heart attack on July 6th 1971 aged 69 after playing a famous show at The Waldorf Empire.

A clearly signed and dedicated 1970 autograph book page in blue ink by Louis Armstrong (To Jean from).

NB ; This autograph was signed just 9 months before Louis Armstrongs death, hence the more fragile nature of this signature in comparison to earlier examples.

Certification:

From the outstanding & huge autograph collection of Jean Williams of Chelsea, all obtained in and around the London Theatres / London Hotels (The Dorchester / The Savoy) /  the BBC Riverside Studios and ITV TV Studios from the late 1950s into the mid 1970s. Including (amongst others) such notables as ; John Lennon / Marlon Brando / Steve McQueen / Sharon Tate / Lee Van Cleef / Ringo Starr and Natalie Wood. Most of the signatures in the collection are dedicated to her by the celebrity and then annotated and dated in her hand.  This Louis Armstrong autograph is dated 29th October 1970.
