About Margaret Thatcher

MARGARET THATCHER d2013. British politician, famously the daughter of a Grantham Lincolnshire greengrocer. Nicknamed "The Iron Lady", she will always be remembered for her single-minded tough talking rhetoric in dealing with the Soviet Union Cold War / Europe / Falklands War (1982) / her strong economic home policy and in curbing the power of The Trade Unions. The leader of the Conservative Party (1975-1990) and the first ever female UK Prime Minister in office between 1979-1990. A life peer as Baroness Thatcher of Kesteven Lincolnshire. She suffered with poor health in her later years and died aged 87 following a stroke on 8th April 2013.
