MICK JAGGER. English musician, singer, songwriter and actor best known as the lead vocalist and founding member of the legendary Rolling Stones. His extraordinary career has to date spanned over fifty years. His performance style has been said to have "opened up definitions of gendered masculinity and so laid the foundations for self-invention and sexual plasticity which are now an integral part of contemporary youth culture". Allmusic have described Jagger as "one of the most popular and influential frontmen in the history of rock & roll". His distinctive voice and performance, along with song-writing partner Keith Richards guitar style, has been the trademark of the Stones throughout the career of the band. In 1989, he was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame along with the Rolling Stones. A very astute businessman, Jagger has also over the years gained much press notoriety for his admitted drug use and romantic involvements ; the press often portraying him as a counterculture figure. Despite this he was knighted in 2003. The Rolling Stones now in their 50th year continue to be a huge influence on popular music and still attract huge audiences to their ground-breaking concerts .......
