Motorhead
MOTORHEAD. English rock band formed in June 1975 by bassist-singer-songwriter Ian Fraser Kilmister, professionally known by his stage name "Lemmy" who has remained the sole constant member. The band are often considered a precursor to the New Wave of British Heavy Metal which energised the genre during the 1970-80s. To date they have released twenty-one studio albums, ten live recordings, twelve compilation albums and five EPs. Usually a power trio they had particular success in the early 1980s with several successful singles in the UK Top 40. Their best known albums Overkill / Ace of Spades and No Sleep Till Hammersmith cemented the groups reputation as a top-tier rock band. As of 2012, they had sold more than 30 million albums worldwide. The band is ranked number 26 on VH1's 100 Greatest Artists of Hard Rock. Drummer Phil "Philthy Animal" Taylor died on November 11th 2015 aged 61. Motorhead disbanded after the death aged 70 of Ian "Lemmy" Kilmister on December 28th 2015. Guitarist "Fast" Eddie Clarke died of pneumonia aged 67 on January 10th 2018.
