Muirhead Bone
SIR MUIRHEAD BONE d1953. Scottish etcher, drypoint and watercolour artist who became known for his depiction of industrial & architectural subjects and his work as a war artist in both the First and Second World Wars. He was an active member of both the British War Memorials Committee in WW1 and the War Artists Committee in WW2. He promoted work of many young artists and served as a Trustee of the Tate Gallery, the National Gallery and the Imperial War Museum in his later life. He died aged 77 in 1953.
