NEIL HAMILTON d1984. American actor signed to Paramount Pictures in the 1920s who became one of their leading men in films including ; Beau Geste / The Great Gatsby / Mother Machree / Dawn Patrol / Laughing Sinners and played Harry Holt (Jane's fiancee) in the original 1932 Tarzan & The Apeman along with other numerous roles through the 1940-50s. His career total in the region of 268 films (both silents and talkies). He is however nowadays best remembered as the somewhat pompous Police Commissioner Gordon in the Batman TV series of the 1960s. He appeared in all 120 episodes and Yvonne Craig (who played Commissioner Gordon's daughter Barbara) once said "he came every day to the set letter perfect in dialogue and never missed a beat—a consummate professional...." He died of an asthma attack aged 85 on September 24th 1984.
