NEW AVENGERS. British secret agent action television series produced during 1976 and 1977. It was the sequel to the 1960s series, The Avengers (created by Sydney Newman) and was developed by original series producers Albert Fennell and Brian Clemens. There were two series, consisting of 26 fifty minute episodes costing £125,000 each to make produced at Pinewood Studios. It was seen in 120 countries. The series picked up the adventures of John Steed (Patrick Macnee d2015) as he and his team of "Avengers" fought evil plots and world domination. His two parners were Mike Gambit (Gareth Hunt d2007) and Purdey (Joanna Lumley).
