Norman Murray

Norman Murray

NORMAN MURRAY CARRINGTON WALTERS d1988. World famous Australian escape artist who claimed to have coined the word, "escapologist." His career lasted between 1915-54, but properly kicked off following the death of Harry Houdini during the 1920s and is considered by many to have been a very worthy successor. He did some very spectacular escapes (including being bound in a straightjacket and thrown into a lions cage). He died in Blackpool in 1988.
