PRETENDERS. Anglo-American rock band led by female singer Chrissie Hynde. First formed in 1978, they are best known for a string of successful UK hit singles including ; "Brass in Pocket" (No1 1980) / "Talk of The Town" / "I Go To Sleep" / "Dont Get Me Wrong" and "Hymn To Her". Highly rated lead guitarist James Honeyman-Scott died of a drug overdose aged just 25 in 1982. Bass player Pete Farndon died of a drug overdose aged 30 in 1983, leaving the group with just two original members.
