About Queen

Queen

QUEEN. Ever popular British group that has enjoyed worldwide success since the early 1970s, selling in excess of 300 million records. Despite the sad loss of the legendary Freddie Mercury (who died on 24th November 1991 aged 45) and the retirement of bassist John Deacon, the remaining original band members Brian May and Roger Taylor continue to tour today. A chance meeting in 2004 with Bad Co / Free singer Paul Rodgers, led to him joining for well received recent World Tours and a new LP "Cosmos Rocks" in 2008 which reached No5 in the charts. Their extraordinary music portfolio and the success of their stage production "We Will Rock You" will ensure that they will remain one of the most popular bands ever in popular music ...

NB ; The autographs of John Deacon and Brian May were originally on back to back pages in the autograph book. This page has been professionally split and then both pages rebacked by a paper expert in order that  the original signatures can be shown in the display. This is a rarely known extraordinary skill that can be achieved only with paper that is layered in a suitable way. Due to the thin nature of the paper there is a little remaining show through of the John Deacon signature on the Brian May page.

These Give It The Works Cards were sent out to record industry executives and very close associates of the group for Christmas 1984. It is unclear exactly how many there were, but it is estimated to be a very small number (possibly around 100). The original obtainer was a friend of Jacky Smith of The Official Queen Fanclub, who visited her when the club was based in Pembridge Road Notting Hill. It was here that she was given this signed card, she believes early in The New Year (1985), this was therefore likely a card left-over and never actually sent out, hence the excellent condition. She treasured it for 30 years and sold it to Memorabilia UK in June 2013. This is the second one we have found over the years. AFTAL Dealer No13 and UACC RD Memorabilia UK COA.

Condition:

The signatures are all clearly readable and much better in real life than the scan is able to contrast . The John Deacon has suffered around 25% fading and the Brian May maybe 15% fading , caused by the previous owner sadly displaying the card for a period in direct sunlight.

Condition:

It is the plain card interior of the record sleeve that is signed. This is because the sleeve is split from top to bottom. There is surface creasing to the front image of the LP cover (we would rate as 6/10 overall condition) but this does not affect the clarity and quality of the four signatures. All are in good condition and clearly readable.....
