Radio London

RADIO LONDON. Radio London was an offshore commercial pirate radio station. It operated between 16th December 1964 -14th August 1967 from The MV Galaxy ship which was anchored in the North Sea, three and a half miles off Frinton-On-Sea Essex England. The MV Galaxy was a former WW2 US Navy Minesweeper originally named USS Density. The majority of programmes were presented live from a studio in the hold. Radio London ceased operating at midnight on 14th August 1967, due to the management deciding not to contravene the new Marine Broadcasting Offences Act. The MV Galaxy sunk in Kiel harbour in 1979 and was later broken up in 1986, due to causing pollution concerns.....
