RONNIE BIGGS d2013. English criminal famous for his role in the £2.6 million pound Great Train Robbery of 1963. In 1965 he escaped from Wandsworth prison spending 36 years as a fugitive in Australia and Brazil whilst evading the police. In 2001 he returned voluntarily to the UK and spent 8 further years in prison with declining health. He was released on compassionate grounds aged 80 on August 9th 2009 and died aged 84 in a nursing home in December 2013..
