One of a lovely collection of 1990s signed programmes obtained by RE who worked in production at the Glasgow SECC during the decade. There is a typed copy of a letter from him further detailing the general history. Simply Red played the Glasgow SECC for three nights January 17-19th 1996, so that will be the actual signing date. Simply Red

SIMPLY RED. British soul & pop band of the mid-1980s from Manchester led by lead singer Mick Hucknall. Their first single "Money's Too Tight to Mention" brought them to prominence in 1985. Since then they have enjoyed huge studio album success selling over 50 million albums and having a string of UK Top10 LPs including ; "Picture Book" (1985 No2) / "Men and Women" (1987 No2) / "A New Flame" (1989 No1) / "Stars" (1991 No1) / "Life" (1995 No1) / "Blue" (1998 No1) / "Home" (2003 No2) / "Simplified" (2005 No3) / "Stay" (2007 No4) and "Big Love" (2015 No4). The group with only one original member (Mick Hucknall) disbanded in 2010. They reformed briefly in Autumn 2015 for a 30th anniversary European Tour.

From an extensive 1980-90s autograph collection containing many music notables of the period obtained by Bob an employee of the Brighton Centre.  Simply Red played this venue on November 3rd 1985, so we would assume this to be the likely actual signing date.
