SIOUXSIE & THE BANSHEES. English rock band formed in London in 1976 by vocalist Siouxsie Sioux and bass guitarist Steven Severin who scored a number of UK Top30 single and LP hits during the 1970-80s. Initially associated with the English punk-rock scene, the band rapidly evolved to create "a form of post-punk discord full of daring rhythmic and sonic experimentation". The Banshees also became inspirational in the creation of the gothic-rock genre. Guitarist John McGeoch has been described as one of the most influential of his generation and is listed by Mojo Magazine in their "Top 100 Guitarists of All Time" for his work on "Spellbound". He died in Cornwall aged just 48 on March 4th 2004. They disbanded in 1996, with Siouxsie and drummer Budgie continuing to record music as The Creatures. In 2004, Siouxsie began her own solo career ....
